Delivery and Returns

Every lake map is printed after it has been ordered. Nothing is held in stock, which is what allows any lake to be offered at any size, and it is also why delivery takes longer than it would for an item held in a warehouse.

What arrives, and how

An order consists of one or more of the following, according to what was selected at checkout. Where more than one applies, they are dispatched separately.

• A print, unframed. Supplied rolled in a rigid tube. Prints are never folded.
• A print, framed. Assembled and glazed, then packed flat in a box.
• The digital file. Supplied by email as a download link. There is nothing to post.

Where an order includes both a print and the digital file, the file is sent by email first. It is not held back until the parcel is dispatched.

Prints

Sizes

Prints are sold at 12 x 16, 18 x 24, 24 x 32 and 30 x 40 inches, trimmed to 30 x 40, 45 x 60, 60 x 80 and 75 x 100 centimetres. These are the same four sheets stated in both units. The inch figures are rounded; the centimetre figures are the dimensions each sheet is trimmed to. When matching a frame you already own, measure against the centimetre figures.

Framing

Framing is available in the 12 x 16, 18 x 24 and 24 x 32 inch sizes, in White, Light wood, Dark wood and Black. A framed print is supplied glazed and ready to hang, packed flat in a box rather than rolled. The price shown at checkout is the price of the framed article in full; no further amount is added for the frame itself.

30 x 40 inches is available unframed only. Our printer does not produce a frame in that size, so it is supplied in a tube as with any other unframed print.

Where we ship

Prints are shipped within Canada only. Postage is included in the price shown, with no further amount added at checkout, an arrangement that holds only while every parcel is delivered domestically. Customers outside Canada may order the digital file, which is available for every lake we draw.

Delivery times

The first stage of an order is production, during which there is no tracking to follow. A tracking number is normally issued within 2 to 3 business days, and most orders arrive within 7.

Some orders take longer, usually as a result of the delivery destination rather than any fault in production. If the period above has passed and you have received no notification, please contact us and we will follow the matter up with the carrier.

Where a sheet has been personalized, this period begins on your approval of the proof rather than on payment. No time spent awaiting your approval is counted against it.

The digital file

The digital file is supplied as a single PDF, sent by email as a download link, usually within a day. It is the sheet as printed, at full size and without a watermark. One file covers every size we sell, so no size is selected for a digital order.

Nothing is posted for a digital order. No delivery address is collected, and the file is sold in any country.

Printing the file yourself

The file holds its quality up to 30 by 40 inches (75 by 100 cm). Above that size the image begins to soften.

The sheet is drawn in a 3:4 proportion. At a 3:4 size the drawing fills the paper with no crop and no border: 12 x 16, 18 x 24, 24 x 32 and 30 x 40 inches, or 30 x 40, 45 x 60, 60 x 80 and 75 x 100 centimetres. A size that is not 3:4, such as 16 x 20 or 24 x 36, will either crop the map or leave a band along two edges.

Please download the file and retain a copy. If it is lost, contact us and we will supply it again.

Personalized sheets

Where you have added your own places or wording to a sheet, no order is sent to the printer until you have approved it. We first supply a proof: the poster itself, watermarked, carrying your marks and your wording, so that spelling and placement can be checked. Please reply to confirm that it is correct, or to specify what should be changed.

Where a mark has been offset to clear a printed name, a fine line connects it to the exact position. This is intentional.

Please review the proof carefully. A print carrying wording you supplied cannot be returned, which is the purpose of the proof stage.

A mark on the sheet is a decorative label. It is not a boundary, a lot line, or a statement about the ownership of any land or water.

Lakes not shown on the list

Please contact us. Every poster is drawn from the province’s own depth soundings, and a considerable number of Ontario lakes have never been surveyed, so we first establish whether yours has been.

No charge is made while we do so. If the lake has been surveyed, we will respond with a price and a payment link. If it has not, we will tell you, and no payment will be taken for a sheet we cannot draw properly.

If something is wrong

Damage in transit

Please photograph the item in its packaging before unwrapping it any further, then reply to any email we have sent regarding the order. A photograph of the damaged tube or box is what supports a claim against the carrier, and it cannot be taken once the print has been removed.

A print damaged in transit will be replaced. The damaged item does not need to be returned.

An incorrect order

If an order arrives as the wrong lake, size, colourway or finish, please notify us and it will be corrected at our cost. Please check your order confirmation first, which records exactly what was selected.

An order that has not arrived

If tracking has not updated, or the period stated above has passed with no delivery, please reply to any of our emails. We will follow the matter up with the carrier on your behalf.

Cancellation

Please notify us as soon as possible. An order can usually be cancelled and refunded in full at any point before it reaches the printer. Once printed it cannot be, as every poster is produced for a single buyer and cannot be resold.

A personalized print and a custom lake drawn to order cannot be returned under any circumstances, for the same reason. The proof stage exists so that a personalized sheet is reviewed before printing rather than after.

A digital file cannot be returned once its download link has been issued, as the file is by then already in your possession.

Wording we decline to print

Wording supplied by a customer is printed commercially under our name. We therefore reserve the right to decline an order rather than print it. Where we do so, the order is refunded in full and the reason is given.
