The short version
We collect what we need to fill your order and send it to you. We do not sell your information, and we do not build a profile of you. If you buy a printed lake map, your delivery address is collected and held by Stripe and never reaches us.
What we collect
Common to every order:
- Your name and email address, so we can send your order and ask questions about it.
- Anything you tell us in a notes field or by email.
- Payment details, handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor, on Stripe’s own pages. Card numbers never reach our site and we never store them.
- Basic server logs, including IP address, kept for security and abuse prevention.
If you order a property report:
- The property location you ask us about: an address, a description, or coordinates.
If you order a lake map:
- Which lake, size, colourway and framing you chose.
- Your delivery address, which Stripe collects and holds, not us. We see the order and the shipping status; the address itself lives in Stripe’s records and we pass it to our printer to fulfil the order. For a digital-only order no address is asked for at all.
- If you personalize a sheet: the words and place marks you supply, including any names and dates. We store these on the order so the sheet can be re-drawn from the order alone if a reprint is ever needed. Please do not put anything in them you would not want held in an order record.
What we do with it
We use it to research, make and deliver your order, to contact you about that order, and to keep records of what we sold and when. We do not send marketing email to customers unless you ask us to.
Who we share it with
Only the services needed to run the business:
- Our email provider, to deliver your order and the messages about it.
- Stripe, our payment processor, which handles payment directly, collects and holds the delivery address for a printed order, and shares your name and email with us for reconciliation.
- Our print supplier, for a printed lake map: your name and delivery address, so they can print and post it, and the artwork for your sheet.
- Our file host, for a digital file: the file itself is stored there behind an unguessable link. Your name is not part of the link and is not sent to the host.
- Our web host and content delivery network.
- Google Analytics, which counts visits to the site. It sees the pages you look at, not what you type into an order form.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We do not share it with any government body except where the law requires it.
Property information is not personal information
The records in a report come from published government sources about land, not about you. Searching a property tells us nothing about who owns it, and we do not attempt to link a report to a named owner. The same is true of a lake map: the depths, names and shorelines on the sheet are public records about water, and a mark you add is whatever you chose to write.
How long we keep it
We keep order records so we can answer questions, reissue a delivered file, and reprint an order that went wrong.
A delivered report file is deleted from our file host a year after we send it. A delivered lake map file is not on a deletion schedule, so if you lose yours, ask and we will send it again. Neither is a promise that a link will work forever: download your file and keep your own copy.
Ask us to delete your personal information and we will, except where we are required to keep records for tax or legal reasons.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. Your delivery address is held by Stripe rather than by us, so a request about that one may take us a little longer while we ask them.
Cookies and site analytics
Our site uses the cookies it needs to function, plus Google Analytics, which tells us how many people visit, which pages they read, and roughly where in the world they are. It sets a cookie in your browser to recognise a repeat visit. We use it to see whether the site is doing its job, and for nothing else.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not send Google anything you type into an order form. If you would rather not be counted, most browsers can block the cookie, and Google publishes a browser add-on that switches Analytics off everywhere.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS and payment is handled by a hosted processor so card details never touch our systems. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell affected customers promptly if a breach ever puts their information at real risk.
Changes
We will update the date at the top of this page when this policy changes.
